As the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Maxim Shaskolsky noted, the fuel market is socially significant.

“The service has organized monitoring of prices at gas stations. The economic feasibility of various components that are included in the final price is checked,” he said at the conference “Antimonopoly regulation of pricing in commodity markets of the Russian Federation.”

In addition, thanks to government measures to stabilize the market, prices for petroleum products are being held back in both the retail and wholesale segments, Shaskolsky emphasized, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

On December 27, the Federal Antimonopoly Service opened cases against LUKOIL subsidiaries in Nizhny Novgorod and Perm due to markups on gasoline at gas stations.
