Kanagawa Prefecture, which aims to introduce ``ride sharing'' in Miura City where ordinary drivers use their own cars to transport people for a fee, held a review meeting on the 1st and solicited drivers from local residents. He explained that he would conduct a demonstration experiment with a system in which taxi companies would be responsible for operation management.

Kanagawa Prefecture is aiming to introduce its own ``ride-sharing'' system in Miura City, where it has been pointed out that there is a shortage of taxis at night, and presented a concrete proposal for a demonstration experiment at a review meeting held on the 1st.

Prefectural officials said:

▽Miura City will recruit around 20 people who live or work in the city as drivers, and

▽Taxi companies will be responsible for operation management, vehicle maintenance, and driver training. I explained that it would be done according to the system.

The plan is

to start as early as possible in the new fiscal year, and for approximately eight months.

In response, the taxi companies in attendance expressed the opinion that they would like to see a thorough examination of the problems that emerged through the demonstration experiment.

Hiroyoshi Mikami, executive director of the Kanagawa Prefecture Taxi Association, said, ``We would like them to make a thorough judgment through demonstration experiments to determine how much demand is needed to make it profitable.''
