Monetary policy The Fed foresees victory in the fight against inflation and hopes to lower US rates by three quarters of a point in 2024
The
United States Federal Reserve
(Fed) announced this Wednesday that it
is maintaining interest rates in their current range
and stated that it does not expect it to be appropriate to reduce the target range until it is certain that inflation is moving sustainably towards the 2 %.
The US regulator decided to keep rates within the range of 5.25% to 5.5%, their
highest level since 2001
.
The decision was announced in a statement and Fed Chairman Jerome Powell
will explain it in a speech
that will be closely analyzed to see if it gives a clearer picture of the central bank's future decisions.
