  On the 31st, the Institute of Financial Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Social Sciences Literature Press jointly released the "Tourism Green Paper: Analysis and Forecast of China's Tourism Development in 2023~2024".

  According to reports, in order to systematically reveal the tourism status of Chinese nationals, the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will launch a national survey through the Internet in November 2023. The survey subjects covered 304 prefecture-level and above cities in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, covering tourism activity participation, tourism consumption expenditure, tourism satisfaction, tourism behavior decision-making, tourism focus, etc. The survey results show that Chinese national tourism consumption is recovering steadily, and a series of structural market dynamics presented by tourism demand will lay the foundation for subsequent development.

  From the perspective of tourism consumption, since 2023, the per capita tourism expenditure of the respondent's family has been 1,000 yuan and below, 1,000 to 3,000 yuan (inclusive), 3,000 to 5,000 yuan (inclusive), 5,000 to 8,000 yuan (inclusive), 8,000 to 10,000 yuan Yuan (inclusive), 10,000 to 20,000 yuan (inclusive), and more than 20,000 yuan accounted for 9.2%, 27.9%, 29.6%, 16.6%, 8.7%, 5.1%, and 2.8% respectively. Weighted calculations show that the per capita travel expenditure of households since 2023 has been 4,984 yuan. Without taking into account price increases, on a comparable basis, it has increased by 1,189 yuan, or 31.3%, compared with 2020.

  Compared with the past, since 2023, the top three items that increase tourism consumption expenditure among respondents are accommodation consumption (77.8%), catering consumption (71.9%) and shopping consumption (45.0%). The proportion of respondents who increased their expenditure on transportation consumption (35.2%) and ticket consumption (27.1%) was relatively low, while the proportion of respondents who increased their expenditure on entertainment consumption (8.3%) was the least.

  The survey results also show that since 2023, 21.1%, 28.2% and 24.6% of the respondents have spent 101~300 yuan, 301~500 yuan and 501~1,000 yuan respectively on purchasing cultural and creative products during travel. Weighted calculations show that since 2023, the average amount spent by individuals on purchasing cultural and creative products during travel will be 640 yuan.

  In terms of tourism consumption expectations in 2024, 18.2%, 27.1%, 6.0%, 47.7% and 1.1% of the respondents respectively expected that per capita household tourism expenditure in 2024 will increase by 30% or more and within 30% compared with 2023. , unchanged, reduced by less than 30%, reduced by 30% and above. Weighted calculation found that the expected growth index of per capita household tourism expenditure is 106.8, which is greater than 100.

  The report also mentioned that the dominant position of the "post-95s" group in the tourism market is increasingly emerging. The survey shows that the number of trips per capita of the "post-95s" group is the highest among all surveyed groups. As the "natives" of the digital age, this group is most susceptible to the influence of digital media, which has the effect of quickly concentrating and amplifying market hot spots.
