Impulsa Igualdad accused Ryanair of "discrimination" this Monday for preventing an electric wheelchair user from flying who was already inside the plane, ready to travel from Seville to Milan.

In the video that a friend of the affected woman shared on social networks, she claims that she had notified the company that she was an electric wheelchair user and that she had informed her of its characteristics and measurements. According to her version,

the airline responded that everything was correct

.

The problem arose when, already during the flight, they told him that these measurements were not correct, and they only offered him two options: either not fly, or do so but damaging the joystick of the chair,

without anyone being able to guarantee the fix in Italy.

She ruled out this option. "How am I going to move around Italy if I can't fix my chair, which are my feet and my hands?" Finally, the young woman had to leave the plane, she was left on the ground:

"Ryanair has played with me very hard

," the young woman lamented in the video.

A THOUSAND EQUAL CASES

In a press release, Impulsa Igualdad denounced that "this case

is not an isolated case

," but rather "one more of those that usually occur at airports, mainly carried out by people with disabilities who use wheelchairs."

It is very common that they encounter "obstacles in being able to access the plane with this essential tool for their mobility," he criticized. "In addition to violating the rights of these people to travel and discriminating on the basis of disability,

the right to universal accessibility

included in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is violated," she lamented Impulsa equality. In his opinion, "it is inconceivable that these situations continue to happen today."

On the other hand, Impulsa Igualdad warned about "the job insecurity of

transportation

assistance services , as well as "the shortage" of personnel to meet the needs of these people during their stay at the airport and on the flight itself.
