In order to increase Japan's competitiveness in the field of storage batteries, which are essential for EVs (electric vehicles), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has established a system to subsidize costs when manufacturing equipment manufacturers make joint capital investments. I will support you.

Ensuring a stable supply of storage batteries, which are essential for EVs, is important for economic security, and the government is subsidizing companies' capital investment costs in order to expand storage battery production.

On the other hand, in the field of manufacturing equipment for producing storage batteries, around 90% are small and medium-sized enterprises, and the equipment used in each process is also dispersed among manufacturers, making it difficult to compete with manufacturers in China and South Korea. It has been pointed out that there are power issues.

For this reason, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will provide new subsidies to strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturing equipment manufacturers.

Specifically, in order to encourage collaboration among domestic manufacturing equipment manufacturers, we will subsidize costs on the condition that multiple manufacturers make joint capital investments.

The aim is to expand the production capacity of manufacturing equipment, where supply and demand is tight, as automakers and other companies step up production of storage batteries.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will formally decide on the details of the system, including the subsidy rate, after public comment, and will begin accepting grants within this fiscal year.
