In preparation for the 100th anniversary of the National Park System in 2031, the government officially decided at a cabinet meeting on the 30th to sequentially issue commemorative coins for national parks across the country.



The coins to be issued will be silver coins with a face value of 1,000 yen, with designs featuring the nature of each national park. On the 30th, the first commemorative coin designs for three national parks in Okinawa Prefecture were announced. Ta.

The selling price of the silver coins is 13,800 yen including tax, and 40,000 pieces will be issued each.



The commemorative coins will be sold by mail order by the Japan Mint, an independent administrative agency, and applications for the first round, the design of which has been announced, will be accepted for about three weeks from May 14th this year.



The government plans to continue issuing about five types of commemorative coins for national parks across the country every year, starting in 2031.
