Toyota Motor Corporation has decided to suspend production lines at four automobile factories in Japan due to the issue of fraudulent certification of engines produced by Toyota Industries. The company plans to take immediate action with the aim of restarting operations.

On the 29th, irregularities in the certification procedures for three automotive diesel engine models produced by Toyota Industries, a member of the Toyota Motor Corporation group, were revealed.Toyota has suspended shipments of a total of 10 models, including six models for the domestic market. has decided to suspend production at six production lines at four domestic factories until February 1st.



According to the company, all car production lines will be suspended at Toyota Auto Body's Yoshiwara plant in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and Gifu Auto Body Kogyo's plant in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture. At Toyota Auto Body's Inabe Plant in Inabe City, Mie Prefecture, production of main models such as the Alphard, which are not subject to the suspension of shipments, will also be suspended.



Toyota Motor Corporation President Tsuneharu Sato told reporters in Tokyo on the night of the 29th, ``We will do our best to work through the correct procedures as soon as possible, obtain permission again, and get production started.'' The company announced its policy to move quickly with the aim of resuming production, subject to confirmation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism that the engine complies with standards.
