(New data, new highlights)

Beijing, November 11 (Reporter Yu Jingxian) The latest agricultural dispatch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that with the completion of the harvest of corn, soybean and medium rice, and the acceleration of the harvest of late rice in the south, the progress of the national autumn grain harvest has reached 11.96 percent, and a bumper harvest has been basically achieved. Since the beginning of this year, China's grain production has overcome the impact of floods and droughts in some areas, and the annual grain output is expected to reach a new high.

The planting area has increased, and the production capacity base has been continuously consolidated. This year's autumn grain area has increased for the fourth consecutive year, and is expected to reach 13.1 billion mu, an increase of more than 700 million mu over the previous year. Among them, the area of high-yield corn is expected to increase by more than 1300 million mu, and the soybean area has remained stable at more than 2 million mu for two consecutive years. The soybean and corn strip compound planting area reached 1 million mu, an increase of about 5 million mu over last year.

The large-scale yield improvement has been effective. This year, China will focus on 200 large corn counties and 100 large soybean counties to promote yield improvement, comprehensive implementation of the whole link of cultivation management and harvesting, land planting and fertilizer, and focus on promoting corn and soybean densification, precise fertilizer and water regulation and key measures of "one spray and multiple promotion" in the middle and late stages. According to preliminary estimates, the increase in yield in 300 key counties has contributed 73% to the bumper grain harvest.

At present, autumn and winter planting is being carried out in an orderly manner. As of November 11, more than ninety percent of the country's winter wheat sowing area has been completed. Among them, sowing in the northwest region is basically over, ninety and a half percent in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, more than seventy and a half percent in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and South China, and more than sixty percent in the southwest region. More than ninety and a half percent of the intended sowing area of winter rape has been completed in the country, of which the sowing in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River has basically ended, and more than ninety percent in the southwest region. All localities have actively promoted improved varieties and good methods, and continued to improve the quality of sowing. (People's Daily)
