Reception in music, ads in costume ... It was at a conference with great fanfare that the national elections authority unveiled its precious calendar to hundreds of journalists. The electoral campaign for the presidential election will begin on 8 November, before a first round from 10 to 12 December.

For this election, the election authority calls on citizens to move in numbers. "Express yourself at the ballot box and decide your fate which is in your own hands, be a model for the people as the world used to see us," said the head of the Electoral Commission, Judge Walid Hassan Hamza. The result of the first round will be known on 18 December.

For many observers, opponents and citizens, the outcome of the election leaves little doubt with an omnipresent President Sisi firmly clinging to power who has even obtained by referendum an extension of his current mandate and the right to claim a third term. A majority of Egyptians also do not believe in the suspense of a second round and are already considering a new term for President Sisi. But the head of state is still not, officially, a candidate.

In any case, the national election authority has warned potential speculators. "Stay away from rumours and lies, thwart the conspiracies hatched by hateful people and know that the only way to undermine the action of the National Elections Authority is to try to sow fear, doubt in your minds," said the head of the Commission.

If there is a second round, it will take place from 8 to 10 January. And the final result will be announced by January 16 at the latest.
