• Companies Air Europa pilots go on strike again between June 19 and July 2

Some 2,000 security guards at London's Heathrow airport will go on strike for 31 days between June and the end of August, the Unite union said on Wednesday.

The organization indicates in a statement that, for the first time, the professionals of terminal 3 will join the strike, which until now had starred those of terminal 5.

The strike period will begin on June 24 and end on August 27 and Unite expects it to disrupt flights by airlines such as Virgin, Emirates, American and Delta, as well as British Airways.

The strikes will coincide with the start of the school holidays and the August holidays.

Workers have rejected a wage offer from Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) below inflation, which exceeded 11% in 2022 in the UK, and denounced the treatment they received from the company during the pandemic, their union representatives say.

According to Unite, since 2017 the average remuneration of HAL employees has fallen by 24% in real terms.

The union's general secretary, Sharon Graham, says in the memo that airport management "is wrong in its priorities."

"This is an incredibly wealthy company, which this summer anticipates extraordinary benefits and executive pay. It is also expected to pay large dividends to shareholders, yet its workers can barely make ends meet and are paid far less than those at other airports."
