After Saudi Arabia, Iran is on the verge of re-establishing diplomatic relations with Egypt. Relations between the two countries were severed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the signing of a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.

«

We have no bilateral problems " said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

Three days ago, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said while receiving the Sultan of Oman that Tehran welcomed the normalization of its relations with Egypt.

Oman is playing the good offices between Tehran and Cairo.

An upcoming normalization of relations between Iran and Egypt will further weaken the US position in the region after the rapprochement between Tehran and Riyadh.

This also poses a threat to Israel. Indeed, Iran financially and militarily supports Palestinian Islamist groups and a normalization of relations with Egypt can facilitate this support.

Iran believes that it has emerged strengthened from these developments, especially since it has not given up anything on its regional policy, particularly with regard to Syria or Yemen.
