In recent years, focusing on the transformation and upgrading of the digital cultural tourism industry, Sichuan Province has formulated digital cultural tourism construction standards such as the "Code for the Construction of Smart Tourism Scenic Spots", explored the digital construction of scenic spots, strengthened the digital protection of cultural relics, improved the digital level of management, and strived to improve the "digital content" of the cultural tourism industry.

Digital travel integration enhances travel experience

"Presenting tourists with unseen and uncommon scenery"

A beam of light is cast from the projector and hits the uneven and large iron gauze net, reflecting the stone walls. In the stone walls, clear springs meander out, dyeing the black and white landscape water with goose yellow and dark green. With babbling water and chirping birdsong, the person in the painting comes from a mountain path. At the "Counting Tours of Emei" Experience Center, with the blessing of scientific and technological means, visitors can enjoy the dynamic landscape painting "Ten Scenes of Emei" based on the hand-painted "Asan Picture Theory" by Qing Dynasty poet Tan Zhongyue.

"You can hear the chirping of piano frogs at night, enjoy the winter snow scenery of Emei, and see the geological changes of Mount Emei over hundreds of millions of years, the sea of clouds, sunrise, cuckoos, and spirit monkeys seem to be around and within reach!" Chongqing tourist Li Fei came with friends and only had one day to visit Mount Emei, and the experience of "counting the tour of Emei" made up for their time constraints.

In order to achieve this "travel through time" experience, the experience center makes use of modern interactive technologies such as virtual reality, naked-eye 3D, holographic imaging, etc. "In this way, we hope that the four-time beauty of Emei transcends the limitations of time and space, and presents tourists with unseen and uncommon scenery." Wang Dong, secretary of the party committee and chairman of Emeishan Tourism Co., Ltd., said.

Combining sound, light and electricity with existing cultural relics in scenic spots to activate and display cultural relics is a new way for scenic spots in Sichuan Province to explore the development of digital cultural tourism industry.

In the Leshan Big Buddha Scenic Area, tourists who experience the "Night Tour of Three Rivers" project see that in the dynamic interpretation of light and shadow, the scene of Haitong Zen Master excavating the Big Buddha more than 1300,<> years ago "comes to life". "Knowing this history, the image of the Big Buddha is more vivid and vivid." Guangxi tourist Cao Jie sighed.

In the "Sangu Maolu" exhibition area of the Wuhou Ci Museum, the museum has created a three-dimensional animation of ink painting, attracting many visitors to gather in front of the display. Li Zhi, a docent at the Wuhou Memorial Museum, told us that this new exhibition mode of integrating traditional culture with modern technology is very well received by the audience.

3D displays, webcasts, 720-degree virtual tours, virtual museums, digital scrolls... If you can't visit the attractions offline, the "cloud roaming" project in each scenic spot can also make up for some regrets. In recent years, Sichuan Province has made a lot of capital investment in the digitalization, informatization, networking and intelligence of cultural tourism, striving to make cultural relics "live", and a variety of "cloud roaming" projects have been applied in some museums and sites in Sichuan Province.

Technology helps the protection and utilization of cultural relics

"Clues can be found that are invisible to the naked eye"

Walking into the archaeological shed of Sanxingdui sacrificial area, you are greeted by a closed archaeological excavation site, next to a row of white movable panel houses. "These white rooms are the emergency protection platform for cultural relics in the archaeological greenhouse, responsible for the pre-treatment of newly unearthed cultural relics." Huang Chang, Director of the Publicity and Promotion Department of the Sanxingdui Management Committee, said: "If the restoration room is the 'hospital' of the excavated cultural relics, then this is their 'emergency room'. ”

The emergency protection platform for cultural relics is equipped with professional studios such as emergency protection room for organic matter cultural relics, emergency protection room for microtraces, emergency detection and analysis room, etc., equipped with nitrogen-filled humidifiers, multi-spectrometers, colorimeters and other equipment, which can carry out emergency protection, residue extraction, microtrace protection, etc. for excavated cultural relics.

Since 2019, the Sichuan Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Sanxingdui Museum have carried out systematic and comprehensive archaeological exploration and excavation in the Sanxingdui sacrificial area. In this archaeological process, with the help of silk protein detection method, archaeologists detected a large number of traces of silk fabrics in the ash layer of the sacrificial pit. "With modern technology, we can find clues that are invisible to the naked eye." Huang Chang said.

Sichuan Province is rich in historical and cultural heritage. The census results show that Sichuan Province has a total of more than 107.8 million movable cultural relics (sets) and more than 6,5 immovable cultural relics. With the assistance of digital technology, some cultural preservation units in Sichuan Province have provided reliable original materials for the future restoration of damaged cultural relics and buildings through digital collection, preservation, modeling, reproduction, and non-destructive preservation of panoramas, detailed drawings and section drawings of cultural relics.

In 2021, the Anyue Grottoes Research Institute and Zhejiang University cooperated to comprehensively use virtual reality, augmented reality and other technological means to realize the digital modeling of the Anyue Grottoes Zizhu Guanyin and the overall grotto, and in early 2022, a Zizhu Guanyin statue was 3D printed at equal scale, which was exhibited nationwide as a replica of cultural relics. Mr. Wang, a tourist, said: "The 3D printed replica is shocking enough, and I must go to Anyue to see it when I have the opportunity in the future." ”

In the Sichuan Museum, the staff used three-dimensional technology to collect high-precision three-dimensional data on the Warring States copper chimes in the collection, and used the collected data to simulate the restoration results using different materials and different means, and selected the best technical methods and restoration materials for future actual restoration.

In 2022, the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage launched the selection of cultural relics science and technology innovation projects to promote the experience and practices of cultural relics protection projects that have made significant progress in key technology research and special equipment construction, so that scientific and technological innovation can help the protection and utilization of cultural relics.

Data drives the "cloud" of scenic spots

"Realize that people are swimming, data is turning, and the cloud is calculating"

The development of the digital cultural tourism industry is inseparable from data-driven and technological support. Combined with local cultural tourism resources, develop characteristic cultural tourism data, and form a mature management system, Sichuan Province has explored.

In 2016, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage awarded Chengdu Wuhouci Museum as the "National Three Kingdoms Cultural Research Center". Taking this as an opportunity, the Wuhou Temple Museum began to collect and sort out all kinds of historical relics data and collection documents of the Three Kingdoms, and also conducted field research and investigation of the historical and cultural relics of the Three Kingdoms nationwide, and has visited more than 800 sites so far. The researchers recorded the geographical location, current situation and historical evolution of each point, and attached data maps and photos taken on the spot to form the "Historical and Cultural Relics Database of the Three Kingdoms".

"We use space scanning equipment to scan the exhibition hall, collect data to generate stereoscopic real pictures, and realize interactive operations such as 720-degree rotation, scaling, structural decomposition, and playback of voice introductions." Zhou Yunrong, deputy director of the Sansu Temple Museum, told reporters that the Sansu Temple digitally scanned the cultural relics and ancient documents in the collection, entered them into the cultural relics information management system of the collection, and built a data platform to achieve digital management.

In terms of the collection and application of tourism data, Leshan City has broken the restrictions between scenic spots and built the first tourism cloud platform in the province by city.

Walking into the Leshan Smart Cultural Tourism Command and Dispatch Center, an 18-meter-wide and 5-meter-high super large screen brings the Leshan City cultural tourism data map into view. This platform integrates the relevant data of 56 scenic spots, 43 Wentumeibo venues, 7823,359 restaurants and hotels, and <> travel agencies in Leshan City, and connects the city's cultural tourism resources through a single map. Click on any scenic spot on the map to understand the actual situation of the scenic spot through the real-time monitoring screen; The weekly cultural tourism income, tourist portraits, consumption proportion and other data of the scenic spot can also be called up at any time.

"Through the tourism cloud platform, we want to formulate unified standards for big data services in scenic spots, standardize the construction of smart cultural tourism, so as to avoid duplicate construction, reduce the intelligent construction costs and operation and maintenance costs of scenic spots, cultural and museum venues and consumption places, and truly realize that people are traveling, data is turning, and the cloud is counting." Wang Dong said.

In order to make this "cultural tourism cloud" float further, Leshan City has copied this model to Tianjin, Daqing, Wenzhou and other places to help the transformation and upgrading of the local digital cultural tourism industry. In addition, Leshan is also fully promoting the "Wanjing to the Cloud" smart project to promote cross-regional data sharing and industrial integration.
