• High speed Renfe opens the Avlo between Madrid and Alicante with tickets from 7 euros
  • Madrid commuter train "Spare parts are missing, they are taken from some trains to be able to repair others"

The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has asked Renfe to modify its change policy, considering that it is "abusive" and therefore "null", after the complaints received by the users of the public railway operator.

The OCU refers, in particular, to the Ave, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity trains, which with the options 'Choose' and 'Choose Comfort' only the first time the change of tickets is allowed but the successive ones have a cost per change of 10 euros.

While changes to a higher-priced ticket require paying the difference, the other way around does not. That is, if the new ticket has a lower price than the original, the difference is not refunded to the user, which OCU considers "totally contrary to good faith".

"This policy is contrary to the law and is an unfair clause and therefore null, given that, according to the provisions of articles 82 and 87 of the General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users, it implies a lack of reciprocity in the contract, by applying a floor clause in favor of the company that provides the service, ", The association has argued.

For all these reasons, it has asked Renfe to modify this exchange policy and proceed to refund the difference to the user, in case the new ticket has a lower price.
