• Graphic report The Iberian exception: this is how the cap on the price of gas will affect the electricity bill and how we will pay it afterwards

This Sunday we have one hour less after the time change for the arrival of daylight saving time. But it is not all bad news and is that the price of electricity today for regulated tariff customers will be zero euros for several hours.

The average price of electricity for regulated tariff customers linked to the wholesale market will fall this Sunday to 28.48 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which represents a decrease of 27.05% compared to 39.04 euros / MWh this Saturday.

In addition, the minimum price, of 0 euros/MWh, will be between 12.00 and 18.00, while the maximum price will be registered between 21.00 and 22.00, when it will amount to 104.63 euros/MWh.

To this price of the 'pool' is added the compensation to the gas companies, which has to be paid by the consumers beneficiaries of the measure, the consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed rate, which for this Sunday will be 0 euros / MWh, situation that has been repeated since last February 27.

The average price of electricity in the monthly accumulated until March 26 stands at 94.11 euros / MWh, that is, about 38.46 euros less than the 132.57 euros / MWh of the same period of February.

The 'Iberian exception', which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh over a period of twelve months, thus covering next winter, a period in which energy prices are more expensive.

Specifically, the 'Iberian exception' sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros / MWh in the initial six months, and subsequently, a monthly increase of five euros / MWh until the end of the measure. Throughout this month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
