The CEO of Inditex, Oscar García Maceiras, has assured this Wednesday, during the presentation of the record results of 2022 in Arteixo, that the textile giant will maintain its headquarters in Spain and that this 'headquarters effect' has favored the payment of 1,800 million euros in taxes.

During his speech at the press conference to present results, he highlighted this 'headquarters effect' and detailed that the company has paid more than 6,000 million euros to 6,750 suppliers in our country and has made a tax contribution of more than 1,800 million euros of the 7,479 million of global taxation, at a tax rate of 23%.

Asked during question time about Ferrovial's controversial decision to move its headquarters from Spain to the Netherlands, the CEO of Inditex has avoided commenting on specific business decisions, but has taken the opportunity to stress that "Inditex has and will continue to maintain its headquarters in Spain", including "all the head companies" of the group. And he has insisted that this 'headquarters effect' has made possible the payment of more than 6,000 million to suppliers and more than 1,800 million in taxes.

Also asked about legal certainty in Spain – a reason to which Ferrovial alluded in its communication to the CNMV to justify the transfer of its headquarters – the CEO stressed that Spain is the company's first market and is where the registered office and tax headquarters of all the group's parent companies are currently located. It is the market in which we were born, where we feel comfortable and where we will continue to invest," he emphasized.
