The Israeli army carried out a raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the north of the occupied West Bank on Tuesday afternoon, March 7.

The armed clashes are still ongoing and have claimed the life of at least one Palestinian, who was shot dead, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Several people were injured.

Shortly before 3:15 p.m. local time, the Israeli army said in a short statement that its security forces had launched an "operation" in the Jenin camp.

According to witnesses, Israeli forces surrounded a house, and since then violent clashes have pitted them against armed men entrenched inside, as well as Palestinian fighters from outside.

Also according to these witnesses, the Israeli forces fired two rockets at the house.

According to the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health, which spoke on social media, a 26-year-old young man, Mouhammad Waël Ghazzaoui, was killed after being shot in the chest.

Several other people were injured by Israeli fire, the same source said.
