This was announced by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

According to her, according to TASS, the EU was "Russia's biggest customer", but the Russian side cut gas supplies by 80% in just eight months.

Von der Leyen added that after the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the European Union did everything possible to get rid of energy dependence on Moscow in a short time. 

Earlier, she said that the EU got rid of dependence on gas and oil supplies from Russia.

Vice-Chancellor, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany Robert Habeck acknowledged that the efforts of the federal government to reduce dependence on gas from Russia were not without consequences.
