China News Agency, Beijing, March 2 (Reporter Du Yan) The Beijing Municipal Health and Health Commission stated on the 2nd that in view of the recent high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases such as seasonal influenza, the rapid increase in fever patients, and the increased pressure on pediatric outpatient visits, Beijing rationally allocates medical resources, optimizes the ability to receive medical treatment, continuously improves the level of treatment, strengthens pediatric diagnosis and treatment services, and guarantees the medical needs of the public to the greatest extent.

Monitoring data from the Beijing CDC shows that the intensity of seasonal influenza epidemics in Beijing is on the rise.

For two consecutive weeks (from February 13, 2023 to February 19, 2023, and from February 20 to February 26, 2023), influenza ranked first among the legal infectious diseases reported in Beijing, of which influenza A virus accounted for the absolute Advantage.

The Beijing Municipal Health Commission stated on the 2nd that Beijing is doing its best to improve its ability to receive patients.

All medical and health institutions in the city insist on setting up fever clinics and fever clinics as much as possible and opening them all, adjusting and increasing fever clinic areas and clinics, and rationally deploying medical personnel; further optimizing the order of diagnosis and treatment to ensure that admitted patients seek medical treatment in an orderly manner.

Qualified medical institutions carry out online consultation, Internet diagnosis and treatment services, and drug delivery to effectively divert offline patients; strive to improve the level of treatment, especially to further strengthen pediatric services.

Conditional medical institutions coordinate medical resources, open delayed outpatient clinics and night outpatient clinics for pediatrics, and try their best to meet the medical needs of children.

On the 2nd, Liu Qingquan, director of the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated to Capital Medical University, pointed out in an interview with reporters that the current prevention and treatment methods for influenza are very mature, and citizens do not need to worry.

When it comes to preventing influenza, he said that the basic principle of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent influenza and other diseases is to "foster righteousness and avoid evil".

Opening windows to ventilate, light diet, getting flu vaccines, strengthening exercise, etc. belong to "cultivating righteousness", while "avoiding evil spirits" can reduce infection by wearing masks and avoiding crowded places.

Li Tong, chief physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Beijing You'an Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, once pointed out that some severe cases of influenza may develop more serious conditions such as pneumonia, encephalitis, and myocarditis, and some vulnerable groups may be life-threatening.

However, influenza A is a self-limiting disease for most people with normal immune function, and usually recovers within a week.

Liu Wei, director of the Pharmacy Department of Beijing You'an Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, said that oseltamivir is a prescription drug and should be prescribed under the guidance of a doctor.

The production of the drug is sufficient, so there is no need for citizens to rush to buy or hoard the drug.

The Beijing Municipal Health Commission pointed out that in the next step, Beijing will continue to carry out disease monitoring and early warning, further improve treatment capabilities, strengthen drug monitoring and supply guarantees, and make every effort to prevent and control seasonal influenza.

In winter and spring, the flu virus is active. Citizens are reminded to strengthen personal protection, use medicines appropriately and rationally under the guidance of doctors, and not blindly hoard medicines.

In case of severe symptoms such as persistent high fever, shortness of breath, severe headache, etc., seek medical treatment in time.
