The Government

continues to increase its pressure on Spanish companies

and, especially, on banking entities.

After the second vice president Yolanda Díaz did it yesterday, today it was the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, who pointed out the good results of the banks and who has demanded that they contribute more.

"In these moments in which

we have known record profits, millionaires,

the large entities must contribute a part of them so that the whole of society benefits," said Montero.

"

I wish this could be done voluntarily, but you know that this is difficult

", continued the person in charge of the Treasury, who in this way has justified the new tax on banks and also on energy companies.

"That the government has promoted these tax measures is tax justice, social justice," added Montero before taking part in the

Future fast forward

forum for the automotive sector with, among others, the president of SEAT, Wayne Griffiths .

Montero's appointment occurs on the same day that

Banco Santander

has presented annual profits of 9,600 million, which represents an increase of 18%, and after yesterday

BBVA

registered historic profits of 6,420 million.

The monista has also explained that the new taxes will be fully in force "in the coming days."

The term for the first advance of the liquidation began last Wednesday, but the reality is that there has been a delay in the process and the regulations are still in the Council of State.

Montero has downplayed this situation and has stressed that in a few days the models "will be available so that companies can comply with their tax obligation."

Attack on Ayuso

The minister has also harshly attacked the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who is linked by a long enmity or, at least, a recurring confrontation.

Montero has taken advantage of her intervention before her by the media to recall that the Madrid region

filed an appeal yesterday for the unconstitutionality

of the new tax for the rich, alleging that it invades the regional powers in fiscal policy.

"Once again it becomes clear that the Popular Party

defends the interests of a wealthy minority

, which are the ones that move big capital," said the number 2 of the PSOE.

"But the Government of Spain is with a majority of citizens, with public services and with aid to the most vulnerable people," she added.
