The number of housing construction starts nationwide last year slightly exceeded the previous year and increased for the second consecutive year.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, 859,529 housing units were built last year, up 0.4% from the previous year.
Among them, 255,487 units were sold for sale, an increase of 4.7% from the previous year.
In addition, the number of rental housing such as apartments increased by 7.4% to 345,080 units.
On the other hand, 253,287 "own houses", which indicate custom-built houses, decreased by 11.3% from the previous year.
Demand for housing has been firm against the backdrop of the spread of telework, and the number of condominiums and rental apartments has increased. It seems that the decrease in the number of visitors to the venue also had an effect.
