China News Agency, Haikou, January 28 (Reporter Wang Ziqian) During the Spring Festival holiday that just passed, the duty-free market on Hainan's outlying islands continued to be hot.

According to data released by the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce on the 28th, from January 21st to 27th, the total sales (including duty-free and duty-paid) of the 12 outlying island duty-free shops in the province totaled 2.572 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), compared with the same period during the Spring Festival holiday in 2022. An increase of 20.69%, an increase of 329% over the same period in 2019.

The average daily sales exceeded 350 million yuan, an increase of 150 million yuan compared to before the festival.

Haikou Customs also released data on the same day, saying that during the Spring Festival holiday, the customs supervised a total of 1.56 billion yuan of duty-free shopping on outlying islands, and the number of duty-free shoppers was 157,000, an increase of 5.88% and 9.51% respectively compared with the 2022 Spring Festival holiday.

Xiong Ping, the warehouse manager of Sanya International Duty Free City, a subsidiary of China Duty Free (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Duty Free Group"), said that sales of fragrances and other categories during the Spring Festival are considerable, and many products have become "popular items".

In order to welcome the peak consumption season, various duty-free shops in Hainan held the "Outlying Islands Duty-Free New Year's Eve Carnival Season", launching new products for the Spring Festival of the Year of the Rabbit one after another, and carrying out vigorous promotions.

Statistics show that this year's per capita tax-free consumption on outlying islands reached 9,959 yuan.

CDFG Haikou International Duty Free City, the world's largest single duty-free shop that opened in October last year, ushered in its first Spring Festival holiday.

According to the relevant person in charge of the store, relying on the outlying island tax-free policy, the store has built a tourism retail complex integrating "eat, live, travel, travel, shop, and entertain". During the Spring Festival, it received a total of more than 270,000 tourists.

Affected by the epidemic, duty-free sales on Hainan's outlying islands will be sluggish in 2022. Officials strive to exceed 80 billion yuan in sales this year.

Sales during the Spring Festival are booming, making Hainan's duty-free economy a "good start".
