Spain closes the year of the labor reform with 278,900 more jobs after destroying 81,900 in the final stretch

First complete balance of the labor reform of the coalition government by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The year of post-pandemic recovery, strongly marked by macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty and inflationary tensions, closed with 278,900 new jobs, the lowest job creation in a growth year since 2013 (without taking into account the collapse of the fateful 2020) and unemployment fell by 79,900 people, also at the lowest annual rate since the end of the financial crisis.

The Active Population Survey (EPA) for the fourth quarter of 2022 certifies the slowdown in the fourth quarter, when 81,900 jobs were destroyed and 43,800 unemployed were added.

Consequently, the unemployment rate rises in the 'photo finish' of the year to 12.9%.
