The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology announced that it has implemented a reduction in fees for 14 main and subsidiary services, based on the strategic objectives of the ministry and the “Make in the UAE” initiative, by creating a suitable and attractive business environment for local and international investors in the industrial sector, supporting the growth of the national industry and enhancing its competitiveness, and implementing incentive initiatives to enhance Investment attractiveness, and reducing the cost of doing business for industrial investors.

In a statement yesterday, the Ministry confirmed that the reduction and cancellation of some fees comes to encourage entrepreneurship and support emerging, small and medium projects, and to enhance the empowerment of the industrial sector and reduce costs resulting from issuing licenses and certificates, and also supports the state’s directions by promoting sustainable industries, in line with the declaration of the year 2023 “the year of Sustainability» in the country, by stimulating the use of advanced technology, which encourages industrial companies to reduce emissions and adopt sustainable practices in support of the implementation of the circular economy system, while the new fees began to be applied as of January.

Certificate of conformity

The reduction included the issuance of conformity certificate services from a specific conformity assessment body from a fee of 1,000 dirhams to 670 dirhams, and the service of issuing certificates of conformity for optional (non-restricted) products from 3,700 dirhams to 1,720 dirhams, as well as a license to use the Emirates Quality Mark from 26 thousand dirhams to 2000 dirhams. And the service of licensing the use of the national mark for Halal from 18 thousand dirhams to 2000 dirhams, and the service of expanding the scope of licensing the use of the Emirati quality and the national “Halal” marks from 2500 dirhams to 250 dirhams.

The reduction in fees also included the service of appointing conformity assessment bodies from 33 thousand dirhams to 24,500 dirhams, and the registration service for conformity assessment bodies from 7,500 dirhams to 5,000 dirhams, in addition to providing the free sale of UAE standards to manufacturers and dealers after its cost amounted to 481 dirhams. This aims to raise awareness of the importance of national standards and what they play in supporting the industrial system and economic development in various fields.

Omar Al-Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, confirmed that “the reduction and cancellation of some fees is in line with the (Make in the UAE) initiative and the ministry’s keenness to stimulate the vital and priority industrial sectors in the country and enhance its investment attractiveness, in a way that supports the national action plan for the next decade (we are the Emirates). 2031) and its integrated development program that provides promising opportunities for all global partners, and in a way that contributes to strengthening the country’s position as a global partner and an attractive and influential economic center, as it will support enhancing the competitiveness of industrial companies and their products without affecting the efficiency and accuracy of their operations, as well as the certificates they issue ».

Al-Suwaidi noted that the Ministry pays great attention to establishing an efficient and effective industrial business environment, as studies conducted by the Ministry's sectors indicated an increase in the demand for factories to obtain certificates and marks at an expected annual growth rate in the number of applications for the next year of up to 25%, compared to an increase in applications amounting to 12. % in 2020, as well as expectations of an increase in requests for licensing the use of the Emirates Quality Mark, and an increase in requests for issuing certificates of conformity for products according to health and safety requirements.

Reducing and canceling some fees includes a number of services, most notably:

1- Issuing a certificate of conformity from 1000 dirhams to 670 dirhams.
