The Verdi union is calling for a strike in ground handling services, the airport company and aviation security at Berlin Brandenburg Airport BER on Wednesday.

The airport operator therefore assumes that "no regular passenger flights can take place at BER".

Around 300 take-offs and landings were planned for Wednesday, with a total of 35,000 passengers.

Verdi said on Monday that a very large turnout was expected.

“It is likely that all air traffic to and from Berlin will be affected by the strike on Wednesday.” Passengers should expect severe delays and flight cancellations.

"The strike will take place all day long at the beginning of the early shift and will end late in the evening," Verdi announced.

The airport operator spoke of the period from 3:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

According to the union, the reason for the industrial action is the parallel wage rounds.

So far, no solution has emerged for this in all three areas.
