Among those who have purchased lottery tickets in the past year, one in four people have consistently bought lottery tickets every week.



According to the Lottery Awareness Survey by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, 56.5% of adults over the age of 19 have purchased a lottery ticket in the past year.



If the lottery purchase rate is applied to the total adult population of 43 million, it is estimated that about 24 million people have purchased a lottery ticket, the government explained.



As a result of the survey, 24.4% of them answered that they 'buy lottery tickets every week'.



Of those who have recently purchased a lottery ticket, about one in four do so consistently on a weekly basis.



As for the average purchase amount per time, those over 5,000 won to less than 10,000 won accounted for the largest share at 52.8%.



By job category, self-employed people accounted for 20% and wage workers accounted for 50%.



Housewives also accounted for about one-fifth of the total.



Last year, lottery ticket sales amounted to 6,429.2 billion won, an increase of 7.6% from a year ago.



Last year was the first time that annual lottery ticket sales exceeded 6 trillion won.
