The factory in Minamiashigara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which has been manufacturing "Super Dry" and other products for more than 20 years as Asahi Breweries' main domestic factory, has closed due to a decline in demand due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. We ended production in 19 days.

Asahi Breweries' Kanagawa factory, located in Minamiashigara City, began manufacturing "Super Dry" and other products in 2002 as a supply base for the Tokyo metropolitan area. It was the main factory in Japan, shipping more than 15 million boxes of beer and other products.

However, due to the effects of the new coronavirus, the consumption of beer for business use has declined, the so-called "beer away" and the population have continued to decline, and last year it decreased to more than 12 million boxes.

Since the domestic market cannot be expected to expand in the future, we have decided to close the factory at the end of this month, and the last beer production was held on the 19th.

At the factory, after the machine filled the last beer into a can, employees watched as the can was boxed and prepared for shipment.

Kenji Hamada, President of Asahi Group Japan, commented, "In the medium to long term, sales volume in the domestic beer market is expected to remain flat or decline slightly, so we made a difficult choice. We would like to thank everyone involved for their support." was talking

After the factory is closed, employees will be transferred to other factories.
