We continue to report exclusively on large-scale charter fraud.

We have told you earlier that there is a Mr. Kim, who died while owning more than 1,000 villas, and Mr. Jo, who ran a licensed brokerage in Hwagok-dong, Seoul, was behind several charter scams. It was confirmed that charter fraud was committed in a more active way by building and even creating a corporation.

Reporter Jo Yoon-ha reports.

Kang Mo, the original villa king, owned 283 villas in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

Mr. Kang, who was the barge boss, was arrested and indicted earlier this month on charges of fraud.

However, Mr. Cho, a real estate agent who was pointed out as behind Mr. Kang, was not arrested.

We covered where and what Mr. Jo was doing in the meantime.

A new building in Hwagok-dong.

Move-in started last year, and it is a so-called 'can chartered' building with the same pre-sale price and charter price.

When I checked the registered register, 11 houses were owned by Mr. A, a man in his 70s, and 6 houses owned by Mr. B, a man in his 30s.

The same name appears in other nearby villa registers.

It has been confirmed that Mr. B owns 403 villas nationwide.

The family of Mr. A, who met with the reporters, insisted that "Mr. A lent only his name."

[Mr. A's family: I gave 500,000 won each.

In other words, you lent your name.

I'm someone who didn't know that before.

I have no income right now, and I think I've fallen for a twist.

Because it's too urgent.]

However, as a result of SBS coverage, the building owner who built these villas was confirmed to be a corporation headed by a real estate agent Mr. Jo.

In the past, if you hired a boss and gathered tenants to get a kickback, now you built a villa yourself, created a construction corporation, and committed charter fraud.

Industry insiders say that Mr. Cho left Hwagok-dong around 2019, when a police investigation began due to complaints from victims.

However, while the investigation was sluggish for more than two years, it reappeared in 2021, established a corporation, and resumed its activities.

Tenants are just frustrated.

[Villa Tenant: I said, 'I will provide interest support, when I get a loan,' and they said they would send us the interest that will come out at 3.3% in advance.

I want to solve it, but I don't know what to do.]

Mr. Cho did not reveal his position.

[Mr. Jo/Certified Real Estate Agent: (Reporter Jo Yun-ha of the SBS Department of Economics.) Right now, I'm hospitalized because I'm sick because of someone like you.

Are you going to cover even the person in the hospital?]

The first trial of Mr. Cho, who was handed over to trial in a state of detention, will be held on the 27th of this month.
