The UAE government has signed a set of partnership agreements with the World Economic Forum "Davos" to enhance cooperation frameworks and joint action in many sectors and strategic areas, in a continuation of the positive cooperation between the two parties for more than 20 years.

The agreements cover a range of vital areas, including global future councils, and trade, with the aim of enhancing work in these sectors, by presenting innovative visions that suit the changes taking place in the current stage.

The signing of the partnership agreements came during the work of the current session of the World Economic Forum, during a high-level meeting held by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Muhammad Al-Gergawi, with the founder and president of the World Economic Forum, Professor Klaus Schwab, and in the presence and participation of the Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed. Al-Zeyoudi, Head of the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi, Muhammad Ali Al-Shurafa, and Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, Abdullah Lootah.

Schwab also expressed his happiness with the partnership that brought together the Forum and the United Arab Emirates to host the next edition of the "Global Future Councils" meetings in November 2023.

Digitization of supply chains

The UAE also signed a memorandum of understanding with the World Economic Forum, with the aim of supporting the "Trade Technology" initiative launched by the country, which is designed to accelerate the digitization of international supply chains, improve customs procedures, and enhance developing countries' access to the global trade system, thus paving the way for a new era of trade growth. .

The memorandum of understanding was signed on the UAE side by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi and Muhammad Ali Al-Shurafa, as the memorandum stipulated joint cooperation in order to implement the four main components of the initiative, namely: holding a global forum that brings together leaders in the trade, industry and technology sectors to exchange best practices, and drafting a research report. An annual discussion of the general landscape of commerce technology, its real applications and emerging trends within it, the establishment of a regulatory laboratory that enables large and emerging companies to experiment with commerce technology innovations, and the formation of an incubator for promising startups in the field of commerce technology.
