The Acting CEO of Masdar City, Ahmed Baghoum, revealed that the population of the residential city currently exceeds 10,000, who enjoy a sustainable lifestyle in all fields, while the occupancy rate of offices and commercial buildings is 99%, indicating that the first zero-energy building will be completed. In statements to Emirates Today, on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Baghoum said that the next plan aims to build more commercial buildings, stressing that the provision of energy and water in the city's buildings, whether residential or commercial, reaches more than 40%.

He explained that the number of commercial companies in the city has reached 1,200, while the number of residential buildings currently exceeds 2,500 units, pointing out that 1,500 new units are being completed next year.

He stated that the city owns an investment fund worth three billion dirhams, which is managed by the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, and seeks to attract investors and companies wishing to enter into green investments.

Baghoum confirmed that the demand for Masdar City exceeded expectations, which made the city increase the area of ​​commercial buildings by adding more than 80,000 square meters, some of which will be completed by the end of this year and the next two years.

And he indicated that there are several advantages that encourage business owners to open headquarters in Masdar City, such as the presence of a single window for all procedures, and proximity to the emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Baqhoum added that the city includes one of the largest concentrations of green buildings in the world that have LEED certificates and sustainability ratings, pointing out that the Masdar City complex project and its seven new green buildings, including the first zero-energy office building in Abu Dhabi, reflects the importance of Developing real estate projects according to sustainable principles, with economic and environmental feasibility at the same time.
