Keidanren's basic policy was announced as a guideline for management in this year's spring struggle.

Given the rising prices of food and energy, we are asking a wider range of companies than last year to positively consider raising their basic wages.

Keidanren's basic policy states, "While paying particular attention to 'price trends,' we will call on companies to take proactive measures to maintain and strengthen the momentum of wage increases as part of their social responsibility." We are proposing the necessity of raising wages based on the rise in prices in Japan.

On top of that, "In addition to regular pay raises, it is desirable to consider positively while reconfirming the purpose and role of base pay raises in consideration of price rises that have not been experienced in recent years."

Last year's basic policy targeted companies with increased earnings, but this year we are asking a wide range of companies to positively consider base increases without limiting the target.

On that basis, we are calling on companies that find it difficult to raise base wages to take measures such as establishing new allowances in response to price trends.

On the other hand, it is essential to increase wages of small and medium-sized enterprises, which account for about 70% of workers, in order to foster momentum for wage increases throughout Japan. We are proposing a stance to promote environmental improvement.
