A fuel allowance for low-income workers

This exceptional fuel allowance targets the ten million most modest workers, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced in early December.

To be entitled to it, the applicant's household must be in the "first five deciles" of income, i.e. a reference tax income of less than 14,700 euros in 2021. Another condition: use a vehicle for professional purposes, which includes home-work journeys.

"This vehicle can be two, three or four wheels, thermal and - or electric" and it is not necessary to be the owner, can we read on the site impots.gouv.fr.

An applicant can only benefit from one compensation and the same vehicle can only give rise to the payment of compensation.

On the other hand, several members of the same household can receive the allowance if they use a different vehicle for professional purposes.

Company or service vehicles, whose fuel costs are borne by the employer, are not affected by this system.

An envelope of around 1 billion euros

Before connecting to the tax site, bring your tax notice, the vehicle registration document, and don't forget to check that your bank details are up to date.

The 100 euros are indeed paid by bank transfer to the applicant's account.

The fuel allowance represents an envelope of approximately 1 billion euros.

The general rebate on fuel taxation, which expired at the end of December, has already cost the State some 8 billion euros, or "the equivalent of the budget of the Ministry of Justice", had specified the Minister of Public Accounts , Gabriel Attal.
