The government, which aims to expand the use of My Number, is considering a mechanism to register the account of a financial institution that is a transfer destination for child allowances and public pensions as a public money receiving account linked to My Number.

We are considering how to notify the residents and assume that they have agreed if they do not indicate their intention to disagree.

A public money receiving account is an account at a financial institution linked to your My Number. Once registered, you do not need to enter account information on the application form when receiving benefits from the government.

The Digital Agency has been accepting registrations for accounts to receive public money since last year on its website dedicated to the My Number system. The number remains at around 34 million.

For this reason, in order to promote registration, the Digital Agency is considering a mechanism for registering accounts of financial institutions such as banks that residents have notified to receive child allowances and public pensions as public money receiving accounts.

Specifically, we are considering a method of notifying residents of whether or not they agree to register for a public money receipt account, and deeming that they have agreed if they do not indicate their intention to disagree within a certain period of time.

The government plans to submit a related bill to the regular Diet session, which is expected to be convened on the 23rd of this month.
