China News Agency, Beijing, January 12th (Reporter Liu Liang) A charging data line comparison test report released by the China Consumers Association (referred to as China Consumers Association) on the 12th shows that some brands of charging data lines sold on the market have flame retardant Poor capacity, weak corrosion resistance and other hidden dangers.

At the same time, there are still problems in the charging data cable industry with incomplete product identification and fragmented implementation of standards.

Recently, the China Consumers Association commissioned relevant research institutions to conduct comparative tests on some brands of charging data lines sold in the market.

The test took a total of 46 charging data cable samples from multiple e-commerce platforms to test and compare their electrical safety and hardware reliability.

In terms of electrical safety, the outstanding issues mainly involve the fireproof (flame retardant) performance and voltage drop performance of charging data lines.

The test results show that nearly half of the samples have poor flame retardancy, especially the sheath of the braided wire is more likely to reduce the flame retardancy; 12 samples have poor performance in the voltage drop test. Cause excessive heating and cause safety hazards.

In terms of hardware reliability, the outstanding problems mainly involve the corrosion resistance of charging data lines.

The test results show that nearly half of the samples have weak corrosion resistance. When used in areas with high air salt content such as coastal areas, the metal parts are prone to rust, resulting in a decline in performance.

The relevant person in charge of the China Consumers Association said that through this comparative test and related market research, the China Consumers Association also found that the current charging data cable industry has typical problems of incomplete product identification and fragmented implementation of standards.

According to reports, the United States has implemented mandatory certification for charging data cables since 2019, while China's supervision of such products is relatively lacking.

In recent years, although relevant industry standards and certification technical specifications have been issued successively, the efforts of enterprises to adopt standards still need to be strengthened.

For this reason, the China Consumers Association suggested that relevant production enterprises should expressly implement the standards according to the law, clearly and accurately label and introduce product performance, and at the same time, strengthen internal quality control, and revise enterprise standards based on relevant standards newly released in recent years.

The China Consumers Association also called on e-commerce platforms to actively adopt advanced industry standards, technical specifications or quality certification to ensure the quality and safety of products on the shelves, to ensure the purchase of goods for consumers, and to provide a high-standard product quality environment for consumption upgrades.
