JR Tokai has announced that President Shin Kaneko will become chairman and Vice President Shunsuke Niwa will be promoted to succeed him.

According to the announcement, the change of president will take place on April 1st of this year, and President Kaneko will become chairman with the right of representation, and Vice President Niwa will be promoted as the successor president.



In addition, Chairman Yasuhide Tsuge will be appointed as an advisor.

Mr. Niwa, who will take office as president, is 57 years old from Aichi Prefecture.



After joining JR Tokai in the first year of Heisei, he successively served as General Manager of Human Resources Department and General Manager of General Planning Headquarters, and has been Vice President since June last year.



According to the company, it is the first time among JR companies that an employee who joined the company after the division and privatization of JNR has been appointed as president.

Regarding the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which has not been approved by Shizuoka Prefecture due to concerns about the impact on the environment, Mr. Niwa said, "It is very important for our company's management. We need to ensure the safety of construction, environmental conservation, and cooperation with the local community. We will continue to focus on it.
