From time to time, the German mechanical engineering association has to be careful not to overdo it with the alarmism.

In many companies, food is not eaten as hot as it is cooked at the VDMA in Frankfurt.

This was also the case with the planned supply chain law.

Some companies countered the association's "Impossible!" with a less shrill "Annoying, but somehow doable".

Keep going, get things done, even if it's difficult - this attitude is not just a cliché in medium-sized companies, and therefore also in German mechanical engineering with its thousands of companies, but everyday life.

Therefore, the association's study on the financial and personnel costs of bureaucratic duties should not cause horror.

The problem has been known for a long time.

And previous leaders of the association have already bitten their teeth on him.

On the other hand, the approach of making the loads measurable is convincing.

Especially since exaggerations were avoided: Not all regulations were used by a long shot.

So the problem is even bigger than presented.

It's a real alarm.
