This opinion was expressed by Thierry Mariani, a member of the European Parliament from France, in an interview with Izvestia.

“I think negotiations on Russian gas supplies will begin within a few months,” he said.

According to Mariani, at present Europe is "too much afraid of displeasing Washington or being blackmailed" by Kyiv.

Earlier, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva expressed the opinion that European countries will face a harsh winter without Russian fuel.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that EU sanctions would lead to a shortage of gas in Europe.
