In response to the lifting of the ban on advanced flight "level 4" of drones, businesses utilizing drones will start in earnest this year.

Drones called Level 4 can fly over residential areas where the pilot cannot see them, and last month, the revised Aviation Law was enforced, and a new certification system for aircraft and national qualifications for pilots were established.

In response to this, a company in Tokyo that manufactures drones is undergoing a national examination for type approval of the aircraft.

During the judging, we flew in the rain at a facility that could reproduce the natural environment, and repeatedly recorded data to check for problems with the battery, propellers, and other parts.

On the other hand, regarding the national pilot qualification, the first successful applicants will be announced next month.

As these preparations progress, businesses using drones will get into full swing this year, and drones will play an active role in the field such as logistics and inspection of infrastructure facilities.

Akiyuki Washiya, president of ACSL, a drone manufacturer, said, "This year is the first year of drones. We want to obtain type approval and provide safe drones."
