Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inspected the water tank project being implemented by the authority in the Hatta region, to see the progress of construction work in it, as the completion rate reached 76.8% of the total project.

DEWA stated that the storage capacity of the project is 30 million gallons, at a cost of approximately 86 million dirhams, while the project is expected to be completed in April 2023.

The project includes the construction of two tanks with a storage capacity of 30 million gallons of desalinated water, the construction of support buildings, and the laying of inlet and outlet pipes.

DEWA confirmed the completion of the foundation works for all buildings and tanks by 100%, while the completion rate for the above-ground works reached 85%, and about 98% of the pipes were extended.

Al Tayer said, "The water reservoir project in Hatta supports the comprehensive development plan for the Hatta region, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by improving the efficiency and reliability of water networks, and raising the quantities of water flow, And increasing the water reserve, which contributes to enhancing the sustainability of water resources within the framework of the (Integrated Strategy for Water Resources Management in Dubai 2030), which focuses on enhancing water resources, and using the latest technologies and innovative solutions.

It is noteworthy that DEWA is currently working on implementing a project to store 6,000 million gallons of desalinated water in groundwater basins and retrieve it when needed.

This technology provides a strategic reserve that supplies the emirate with more than 50 million gallons of water per day in emergency situations for a period of 90 days, while ensuring the safety of the stored water from external influences.
