During the New Year's Day holiday, the sales of grain, oil, food, beverages, and daily necessities of retail enterprises monitored by the Ministry of Commerce increased by 11.3%, 10.2%, and 2.6% year-on-year respectively.

  Second, service consumption showed a recovery trend.

Catering stores around the world have resumed dine-in one after another, and catering companies sell online and offline through multiple channels to meet the diverse needs of consumers.

The consumption of ice and snow continues to heat up, and colorful New Year's Eve activities are favored.

The demand for inter-provincial travel and long-distance travel has increased significantly, and the hotel occupancy rate and booking rate in popular tourist destinations have continued to increase.

According to agency data, the three-day box office on New Year's Day exceeded 550 million yuan, and the operating rate of theaters across the country reached 85%, a record high in 10 months.

  Third, online consumption has maintained rapid development.

The Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments and units, guided the launch of the "2023 National Online New Year's Shopping Festival". According to the monitoring of commercial big data, the national online retail sales in the first five days of the "New Year's Shopping Festival" reached 208 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% over the same period last year.

Among them, the sales of new year gift boxes, health supplements, and imported fresh food have grown rapidly, and the momentum of new consumption formats and models such as live streaming and instant delivery has been continuously released.

  Fourth, the daily necessities market is generally stable.

The purchase volume of grain, edible oil, meat, eggs, and vegetables in hundreds of large agricultural and sideline product wholesale markets across the country increased compared with that before the holiday.

In terms of prices, the prices of grain, edible oil, beef and mutton were basically the same as before the holiday; the prices of pork, chicken, and eggs dropped slightly; the average wholesale price of 30 kinds of vegetables rose by 1.5%.
