The Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, and the Paraguayan Ambassador to the UAE, Jose Aguero Avila, discussed opportunities for joint cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of renewable energy and solar panels, supporting partnership with the Emirates, and learning about Dubai's experience in developing technologies New and sustainable energy.

Yesterday's statement stated that the Paraguayan ambassador visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, and listened to an explanation from the authority's officials about the various stages of the complex, praising the authority's efforts in the renewable and clean energy sector, and stressing the importance of exchanging the best global experiences, experiences and practices in the field of renewable energy. And clean.

During his meeting with the Paraguayan ambassador, Al Tayer reviewed the ambitious initiatives and innovative development projects implemented by the authority to achieve the vision and directives of the leadership, indicating that the main direction of energy in Dubai is the expansion of clean energy projects, increased reliance on the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digitization, and the promotion of world-leading levels in energy efficiency. Infrastructure with the highest levels of reliability, efficiency and availability, accelerating investments in disruptive technologies.

He said, "We are working in accordance with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve (Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050) and (Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai), to provide 100% of production capacity." energy from clean energy sources by 2050.

He added, "One of our most prominent projects to achieve this goal is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world according to the independent energy producer model, and its production capacity will reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030."

Al Tayer touched on the fourth phase of the complex, with a capacity of 950 megawatts and investments amounting to 15.78 billion dirhams, according to the independent product system, as it is the largest concentrated solar power plant in one location in the world that combines the technologies of "concentrated solar energy" and "solar photovoltaic energy".

He explained that when completed, the fourth phase will be the largest solar energy storage projects in the world for a period of 15 hours, allowing for 24-hour energy availability.

This phase will provide clean energy for about 320,000 homes, and will contribute to reducing 1.6 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

Al Tayer spoke about the fifth phase of the complex, which will have a total production capacity of 900 megawatts, with investments of two billion and 58 million dirhams. Pointing out that the fifth phase provides clean energy for more than 270,000 residences in the Emirate of Dubai, and reduces about 1.18 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

He also touched on the authority's strategic projects, including a hydroelectric station with stored water energy technology in Hatta, with a production capacity of 250 megawatts and a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt hours, as this station is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. He also talked about the green hydrogen project.
