Solutions emerge this Tuesday for bakers who are struggling to continue their activity with the rise in energy prices and that of raw materials.

Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, proposed to “mobilize an emergency investment fund of six million euros for this professional branch where the first businesses have already lowered the curtain”.

"We cannot agree to let our artisan bakers, who are essential to the daily life of our territories and who make the dynamics of our municipalities, die," he said in a press release.

New government aid

The president of the region has given himself a week to frame, with the federations and the consular networks, a simple and rapid aid plan in order to avoid closures and "not to leave any artisan baker by the side of the road".

Earlier in the day, the government announced the implementation of new aid, in particular the possibility of terminating their energy supply contract free of charge in the event of a "prohibitive" price increase or even "requesting the deferral of the payment of their taxes and social contributions" to relieve their cash flow.
