“Regulation of Communications”: 18 approved applications for voice communication services over the Internet

The authority has approved 7 applications for telehealth purposes.

The Communications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority stated that the updated list of Voice over Internet Protocol applications, currently approved by the Authority for use in the country, includes 18 applications.

The authority indicated, through statements it issued to the approved updated list of applications in the country, that it had approved seven other applications for the purposes of telehealth, pointing out that voice and video calls from voice communication services over Internet protocol, is a regulated activity in the country’s markets, and these services are provided from By licensed service providers or in cooperation with them.

She explained that service providers licensed in the UAE are committed to banning the passage of voice calling applications over Internet protocol that do not comply with the laws and policies of the country, as they fall under the category of prohibited content “illegal communication services.”

She added that the authority may grant, at its own discretion, approval to exclude some voice calling applications over Internet Protocol from being blocked in the country, based on the needs of users and market requirements, as a request for “exemption of voice calling over Internet Protocol” can be submitted by sending an official letter addressed to for the Authority.

The authority called for the need to ensure that telecom service providers in the country are legal for any program to make voice and video calls over the Internet, in order to purchase them via Internet sites.

The authority stated that the updated list of approved online communication applications in the country includes: (Microsoft Teams), (Skype for Business), (Zoom), (Blackboard), (Google Hangouts Meet), (Cisco Webex), and Avaya Spaces, BlueJeans, Slack, BOTIM, GoChat, Voico, Etisalat Cloud Talk Meeting, Matrx, Totok, Empay), Sanad, and Comera.

She indicated that the approved applications for telehealth include (Mind Mina Telemedicine), (NextGenGP Telehealth), (vSee), (OKADOC), (DOXY), (GetBEE), and (Dhani Health).
