Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that the production capacity of clean energy in Dubai amounted to 2027 megawatts, using solar photovoltaic and concentrated solar energy technologies, constituting about 14% of the total production capacity of electric energy in Dubai. , which reached 14,517 megawatts.

This came during Al Tayer's visit to the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex", which is being implemented by the Authority. Photovoltaic solar energy and concentrated solar energy.

Al Tayer inspected the progress of work in the fourth phase of the complex, where 417 megawatts were connected to the authority's network, of which 217 megawatts were made using photovoltaic solar panels, and 200 megawatts were using concentrated solar energy using parabolic reflectors, while the total completion rate for the fourth phase reached 92%.

Al Tayer met the Emirati cadres of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority employees who are training on clean energy projects in the fourth phase of the complex, which is being implemented by “Noor Energy Company 1”, where the authority owns 51% of the company, while “ACWA Power” owns 25%, and the “Fund Silk Road »24%.

Al Tayer also inspected the fifth phase of the complex, where the authority added 600 megawatts and connected it to the network.

The total production capacity of the fifth phase will reach 900 megawatts, with investments of two billion and 58 million dirhams, while the completion rate of the third project (with a capacity of 300 megawatts) of the fifth phase is 52.9%, and it will be completed during 2023.

Al Tayer said: “We are working within the framework of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote sustainability and the transition towards a sustainable green economy by diversifying energy production sources, and increasing the proportion of renewable and clean energy within the energy mix in Dubai.” In order to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Carbon Neutral Strategy 2050, to provide 100% of energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

Al Tayer stressed that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, since its launch, has received wide attention from international developers, which reflects the confidence of investors from around the world in the major projects implemented by the authority, in cooperation with the private sector, according to the independent product model, pointing out that through This model attracted about 40 billion dirhams of investments, and achieved world records for the lowest prices for solar energy projects for five consecutive times, making Dubai a benchmark for solar energy prices in the world.
