The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, announced the launch of a group of cloud computing companies, with the aim of linking sector companies to encourage fruitful dialogue on ways to support and consolidate cloud computing services across various business sectors in Dubai.

And the Chamber stated in a statement yesterday that the group of new companies will focus on exploring the potential of the cloud economy in the emirate, as well as its focus on promoting the development of cloud computing companies, and consolidating the position of Dubai's cloud services sector in the international business community.

By providing a forum that supports mutual dialogue between stakeholders in the sector and government agencies, the group will address policy issues related to the sector, among many other aspects.

The launch of the new group of companies falls within the Chamber's plans to increase the number of business groups representing various sectors and economic activities in Dubai.

Groups of companies represent and protect the interests of their sectors, and play a crucial role in setting appropriate recommendations for changing policies and regulatory frameworks, thus contributing to improving the competitiveness of the business sectors they represent, adopting international best practices, and supporting economic growth.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce plans to increase the number of groups of companies representing economic sectors and activities in the emirate to 100 groups by March 2023.

"As one of the world's most advanced destinations, an advanced digital infrastructure supported by cloud computing is essential to support Dubai's goals of integrating digital technology into all government operations and plans," said Maha Al Gergawi, Executive Director of Business Support at Dubai Chambers.

She added, "The group of cloud computing companies constitutes a fundamental pillar of this infrastructure, as it encourages transparent talks between members of the group, and supports the sector's endeavors to bring about positive changes in policies and thus enhance its competitiveness."

The adoption of cloud technologies allowed Dubai companies to become more flexible and efficient, which contributed to supporting innovation and encouraging the spirit of competition within the local economy, as the UAE surpassed 15 other countries in the Middle East and North Africa region as the most competitive economy in the field of cloud computing.

It is expected that large-scale cloud computing will provide economic benefits to small and medium-sized companies and startups, valued at about $ 17.1 billion (62.6 billion dirhams), during the period from 2022 to 2030, which is equivalent to 2.3% of the country's GDP in 2021.
