China News Agency, Shanghai, December 26th (Pufan) Recently, the news that "Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has shut down for a week" has attracted widespread attention.

"Not entirely accurate." Tesla China replied to a reporter from China News Agency on the 26th that the annual production line maintenance work for vehicle production will be carried out as planned this week.

The relevant person in charge of Tesla China said that the Shanghai plant will still maintain efficient production and excellent output in 2022.

The vehicle production will carry out the annual production line maintenance work as planned this week. At the same time, after a year of hard work, the workers will also take a rest during the production line maintenance period.

It should be noted that the charging pile and other workshops have not stopped.

In fact, some media have previously disclosed that Tesla plans to suspend the production of Model Y models at the plant from December 25 to January 1 next year.

Regarding the completion cycle of the annual production line maintenance work for the complete vehicle production, Tesla China has not yet given a reply, but said that this is "normal maintenance".

It is worth mentioning that Tesla China has experienced multiple price adjustments and promotions since the end of October this year.

On October 24, the prices of all domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y models were reduced, ranging from RMB 14,000 to RMB 37,000.

In December, Tesla China launched two time-limited preferential policies such as insurance subsidies and additional relief.

However, for Tesla, the Shanghai Gigafactory is still Tesla's main export center, supplying cars to more than 10 markets in Europe, Asia and other developed countries. From January to November this year, a total of more than 257,000 vehicles were exported.

In addition, China is also another major market for Tesla besides the United States. In the third quarter of 2022, Tesla's global delivery volume will be about 343,000 vehicles, of which the Shanghai Gigafactory will deliver about 188,000 vehicles, accounting for more than 54%.

There are signs that Tesla is still "expanding" in the Chinese market.

On December 26, Tesla built the 10,000th super charging pile in mainland China; in November this year, the delivery volume of Tesla Shanghai Super Factory exceeded 100,000 for the first time; in August this year, the 100th Tesla Shanghai Super Factory 10,000 complete vehicles have rolled off the production line, and it has been less than 3 years since the factory was built and put into production.
