Kansai Electric Power has revealed that at least 197 people across the group had fraudulently obtained national qualifications for construction management without having the necessary practical experience.

At Kansai Electric Power Co., in June last year, it was discovered that six employees of Kanso Technos, a subsidiary company, had fraudulently obtained a nationally certified construction management engineer. was surveying the entire group.

On the 20th, an investigation report was released, revealing that a total of 180 people in 11 group companies had obtained qualifications fraudulently despite lacking practical experience, and 17 former employees who had already resigned responded to the investigation. It means that people have committed similar injustices.

Some employees forged documents even though they knew that there were requirements, and pointed out that the fact that the internal audit was not sufficiently conducted by the third-party committee was also a factor. I'm here.

According to the report, 56 of the construction projects in which employees who had illegally acquired qualifications were assigned as chief engineers, etc., were ordered by Kansai Electric Power and Kansai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution and were based on related laws and regulations. Of these, 15 were related to nuclear power plant construction.

Regarding these constructions, it is said that there was no problem with safety, as a system was in place to ensure quality.

Tsuyoshi Agawa, head of the Kansai Electric Power Compliance Promotion Office, said, "We apologize for causing concern to our customers and related parties. We will respond appropriately based on the guidance of the competent authorities."
