At its core, it is a debate about envy that is currently causing an uproar at Deutsche Lufthansa.

The Executive Board should be able to receive bonuses again as early as 2021 via a long-term program.

For the employees who had to make concessions in the Corona crisis, surcharges were only agreed in 2022.

During the pandemic, the Executive Board used many words to conjure up a new sense of togetherness in the Group.

But if there is cause for resentment, it inevitably gnaws at the sense of community.

The supervisory board could have prevented this.

But the majority of members missed this opportunity.

The criticism that bonuses, which can only be paid out in 2025, are possible for the state support phase is misleading.

Legally, there shouldn't be anything to complain about.

But a company does not have to do everything it is allowed to do.

Now the seed for new resentment has been sown.

Even a vote to only calculate bonuses for the period after the state exit would have helped.

The fact that things turn out differently can annoy employees, who are unprotected and get the anger from customers because flight cancellations, delays, lost suitcases and cases in which service centers are unreachable are piling up again.
