The IEA predicted a record consumption of coal in the world in 2022

“Global coal consumption is expected to increase in 2022 by 1.2%, exceeding 8 billion tons for the first time,” the report says.

Coal demand is forecast to reach a record 8.025 billion tons.

“High natural gas prices amid the global energy crisis have led to an increased reliance on coal for energy production,” the IEA said.

Andrey Gusev, Associate Professor of Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, said in August that demand for coal could be expected to increase from almost all developing countries.
