The PlayStation 5 console went on sale more than two years ago, however, today, getting one seems more complicated than completing the twelve labors of Hercules.

Therefore, getting around one of these long-awaited devices is very juicy for any company.

The GAME video game store did it on November 28, when it organized a contest, via Twitter, promising one of these consoles along with the

God of War: Ragnarök

video game .

However, the result has become a campaign of harassment against the person awarded.

On December 5, from the GAME Twitter profile, the winner of the PS5 and game lot was announced.

An 18-year-old girl from El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, who is currently studying thanatopraxia.

However, what should have been cause for celebration has turned into a nightmare for the lucky woman, since from that very moment, hundreds of accounts have started a campaign of harassment that has saturated her direct messages.

In the publication where the winner is announced, Esperanza, who prefers not to give more information about her real name after receiving all kinds of threats and harassment through Twitter, a link is attached that leads to the resolution of the draw.

In this a winner appears, whose name does not coincide with the one announced, together with ten substitutes, who will be awarded in the event that the original winner does not comply with the established bases published by GAME.

The original winner, a 28-year-old analyst and programmer from Bilbao, claims his game console while the company tells him that his profile does not meet the criteria established by the bases, because they assure that he used a Twitter account that participates in too many raffles.

"I consider myself cheated," claims EL MUNDO RVL, who also prefers not to give his real name.

The young man meets the established requirements, however,

there is an annex in the bases of the draw by which he is excluded.

"For four or five years we have applied a clause in our raffles," they point out from GAME.

The accounts that have an activity, above normal, linked to the participation of raffles, will be discarded.

"There is no specific percentage, but it is something that is seen in the profile. In this case there is a lack of interaction with other people, the majority are retweets of raffles," they add from the company.

Meanwhile, RVL maintains that, although it is true that it participates in raffles, it does so with its only account that it also uses normally on Twitter, so it does not understand why it is excluded.

In the draw bases themselves, since November 28, this issue is detailed.

The difference is that later, an annex was added specifying the following: "Those accounts whose activity is partially or totally based on the participation of raffles ("caza-sorteos" accounts) will not be valid".

This has served as a throwing weapon for hundreds of users to start

a crusade against the first substitute

and final winner of the PlayStation 5.

Sexist and vexatious comments

Threats, vexatious comments of a sexual nature, mentions with photos taken from their profile whose purpose is to incite public lynching.

"I am receiving all kinds of messages, they even write directly to me," explains Esperanza, still in shock after the events.

"I have read comments stating that they have given me the award for my body, for being a cousin or relative of the CM (Community Manager) or even for working in a Game store," she adds.

"Better give it to the girl with the profile picture in a bikini", "The CM has not been guided by the head he has on his shoulders, it is clear", are just some of the softer comments that can be read addressed to Hope.

"It is a campaign of harassment and demolition against the winner. The person who has been left at the gates of the prize has dedicated himself to liking and retweeting

comments that from GAME we will not tolerate

"they emphasize from the company.

Meanwhile, the young man from Bilbao, who the organizing company considers complicit in this kind of comment, claims to have filed a complaint about what happened to the Basque Consumer Institute.

"

The bases are not entirely clear

, it was the same for the company to give the award to her or to me," he points out.

A transparent process

"We are used to possible communication crises, we deal with customers who are dissatisfied for not having caught an offer or a special edition, but this is one of the biggest crises we have had, and it has also caught us off guard," they explain from GAME.

"We are seeing a series of statements of hate, sexual harassment and defamation that are not justified. We have been doing giveaways on social networks for more than eight years and we have never had any problems, but

for three days, we have not stopped receiving threats of death, saying that they are going to attack our stores,

that they are going to plant a bomb", they emphasize.

From the firm organizing the contest, they explain that they use a tool, Easypromos, which is legally approved in Spain.

It is used by many companies to select winners completely randomly.

That is to say, the company that elaborates the raffle does not have the capacity to manipulate the results.

In addition, in the case of GAME, both the preparation of these weekly draws and their results are strictly reviewed by the UK headquarters to verify their transparency.

"No one would put their job at stake for a video console," they say from GAME
